You may have heard of Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) a tabletop fantasy, pen and paper Role-Playing Game (RPG) system where you roll dice to determine whether you bludgeoned the side of an Orc’s head or miss entirely leaving your character wide open for a counter-attack. There is another RPG system I have been playing for almost a year now on a weekly basis called ‘Rogue Trader’. Same idea of rolling dice and role-playing a character within a universe outside of ours, but instead of a fantasy setting I’m playing within the Warhammer 40k universe. A dark and gritty, sci-fi setting in the 41st millennium where death is common place and the humans are trying to subjugate as much of the universe as possible. I have been having a lot of fun with my friends playing this campaign as we protect worlds against Orks (yes it is spelled differently in this universe), Chaos and random ‘alien’ creatures while expanding our space pirate dynasty’s influence in the name of the Imperium (humans). My character is in charge of our crew’s communications and is the ace pilot, but as the campaign has gone on he has become a little insane and thinks that ‘Chaos is sometimes good’ as the Game Master put it. I might put in some of our adventures in future posts if I cannot recall any more Uber stories. We shall see.
Wow this sounds like a lot of fun, I have never played any of these games but they have always sounded fun. Myself enjoy video games like final fantasy 7 which i just finished playing, but playing RPG games like these are lots of fun and help pass the time of being stuck in quarantine.
