Hammered Luggage Retrieval

Before I start with my Uber story I hope everyone reading this during quarantine is doing well, staying safe and washing your hands. This story happened just as COVID-19 entered the states and the state of California had not given a Stay-at-Home order yet.

They were an amusing drunk pair of friends. They had flown in from out of state but one of the riders was not able to leave the airport with his luggage, I think he said it was sent to the wrong airport. This is where I come in. I pick them up and start driving to SAN. From the beginning, they were very talkative. One of the guys kept telling me he was from Vegas inbetween cracking jokes and talking about their night so far. As we get closer to the airport the other guy who ordered the ride asked if I could wait while he gets his luggage. I happily agreed and waited in the nearby Airport Uber Waiting Lot with Vegas guy. While waiting he started rambling and jumped to different topics as he rambled. On top of his occasional reminder that he is indeed from Vegas. After about 15-20 min, his friend calls us to pick him up. Apparently the guy who handles missing luggage was not there and cannot retrieve his luggage even though my rider could see his suitcase. He gets in the car and I drive them back to their AirBNB. On the way, they asked if I was worried about Covid-19. I told them that I am in one of the best age demographics but I am worried about giving it to my mother. The Vegas guy said he wasn’t worried and just wanted to sleep. As I pull up to their AirBNB they asked if I wanted to come in to hang out. I thanked them for the offer but politely declined so I could keep Ubering. They understood and tipped me $10.
